Ouch! Why Pain Isn't Just a Drama Queen

Understanding Pain & Movement in Pilates
Dear Movers & Shakers,
Let’s talk about the elephant in the room (or maybe that kink in your neck). Pain. We all know it, we’ve all felt it, and let’s be honest... we’ve all tried to ignore it at some point. But here’s the thing: pain isn’t just being dramatic—it’s trying to tell you something important.
Why Understanding Pain Matters
Pain changes the way we move. It’s like that uninvited guest who rearranges the furniture in your living room. Suddenly, you’re compensating, limping, or twisting in ways you didn’t sign up for. And in Pilates, where precision is the name of the game, these little "adjustments" can snowball into dysfunctional movement patterns.
Ignoring pain doesn’t make it go away—it just teaches your body to find new (and often not-so-great) ways to move. Understanding pain allows us to rewire those patterns, gently guiding the body back to balance, strength, and harmony.
